Hi, I’m Liz
About Me
Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re unsure what to expect or worried about being judged. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I understand how vulnerable it can feel to open up about personal struggles. While conversations around mental health have become more common, reaching out for support can still bring up nerves, uncertainty, or self-doubt. My priority is to offer a calm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel safe being yourself.
I have six years of experience working with adults ages 18–64 who are facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. My approach to therapy is conversational and laid-back, allowing sessions to feel more like a supportive conversation rather than something clinical or intimidating. You don’t need to have the “right words” or know exactly what you want to work on—we can figure that out together, at your pace.
Whether this is your first experience with therapy or you’re returning after some time away, you are welcome here exactly as you are. You don’t have to go through things alone, and you don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin.
What to Expect in therapy
-
It’s completely normal to feel nervous before your first appointment. Our initial session is simply a chance to get to know one another. We’ll complete a full intake that includes questions about your background, health, and life experiences. There are no “right” or “wrong” answers, and you can take your time responding.
-
You are always in control of what you share. If something feels too difficult to talk about right away, that’s okay. Therapy isn’t about rushing or revisiting everything all at once—it’s about creating a sense of safety and trust first.
-
We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy and what you’re hoping for, even if that feels unclear right now. Many people start therapy knowing only that something doesn’t feel right. Together, we’ll work to better understand your experiences and identify goals that feel realistic and supportive.
-
You don’t need to prepare, perform, or have it all together. Therapy is a space for honesty, curiosity, and self-compassion. My role is to support you, help you feel comfortable, and walk alongside you as you begin this process.scription
